Unique Pre-Visit Support for Families

Behavior consultants use our one-of-a-kind AI-enabled telehealth platform to coach families while patients are still at home BEFORE a planned medical visit. This ensures readiness for care and equips hospital staff with a dynamically-updating Health Guide with tailored insights, together with recommended strategies (if applicable) to minimize disruptions for these special patients.

Behavior Identification Assessment

Upon hospital intake, we conduct a targeted behavior assessment to understand each patient's unique behavioral challenges and needs. To gain a comprehensive understanding, family members are interviewed via telehealth, providing valuable insights from those who know the patient best. Additionally, synchronous or asynchronous video is captured of real-time behaviors or previously recorded footage.

Mitigation

Our initial behavior assessment allows us to quickly develop a tailored crisis prevention guide to minimize the risk of crises and address the safety and well-being of both patients and staff. These proactive measures are designed to prevent and de-escalate potentially dangerous situations.

Health Guide: A Critical Tool for Hospital Staff

Our Health Guides serve as essential quick-reference guides for hospital staff, allowing any team member to easily access information to support and calm patients during their hospital stay effectively. These guides include individualized strategies and key details about each patient's triggers, communication preferences, and calming techniques, helping staff quickly understand and respond to specific needs and behaviors. Our goal is to support the medical team, allowing them to focus on their expertise while fostering a compassionate and responsive care environment.

Coordination with Families and Community Resources

We work closely with families and community resources to establish continuity of care, recognizing that the availability and accessibility of quality services vary. To ensure patients receive the best possible support, we provide specific referrals to resources or telehealth consultations that align with their needs helping prevent behavioral crises while the family waits for community-based services.

Behavior Technician Training/Support

We provide specialized training for on-site behavior technicians to support autistic patients in hospital settings. Technicians learn to use telehealth equipment for data collection, facilitate real-time interactions with remote behavior consultants, and assist with intakes and assessments. They also receive support from remote consultants to minimize stress for hospital staff, ensuring prompt responses to patient needs and successful care outcomes.

Continuous Support for Hospital Staff

We provide ongoing support through various channels. Hospital staff can schedule meetings to review the initial patient profile, discuss strategies, and address any questions. For particularly challenging behaviors observed during procedures, staff can record videos and upload them for feedback on strategies to prevent similar situations.

Real-Time Coaching for Hospital Staff

While patient profiles provide valuable insights, additional assistance may be necessary to help staff feel more equipped and confident in handling behavioral challenges. We offer guidance from Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to hospital staff, providing expert support in managing or mitigating challenging behaviors in new autistic patients.
